Nawfal Marican (23) SL reflection

For our Service Learning project, we had carried out a Flag Day for  All Saints Home and we also put up a performance for the old folks staying there. Although I was unable to attend the Flag Day, I have experienced such a thing before and I understand the hard work and patience that has to be put into it. Most may find it an easy task, but standing at one spot for a few hours can prove challenging, both physically and mentally. As for the performance, the Malay students of the class played two musical pieces using the traditional cultural Malay percussion instrument, the Kompang. The other students had a week or two of preparations while I only had a few days. Despite the time restrictions posed before me, I suppose that my contribution was of what you would expect with the given time range. However, as a whole, I felt that we could have been more prepared as we only practiced our pieces a few times. On the actual day, our performance was not as good as we had hoped, but nevertheless, it was still an enriching experience. The priceless pleasure and glee emanating from the old folks after the entire performance was definitely something hard to forget, and these memories are surely those that I will remember.
